I am looking forward to meeting all of the new 4th grade students and parents. Mrs. Lunardi and I have an exciting year planned! We are beginning the year with a new math program and a new writing program called Writer's Workshop. Mrs. Lunardi and I are excited about both of these new programs. Each student will have a writer's journal and we will be doing a lot of writing this year. It is the first year that fourth grade is implementing AVID strategies in our classrooms. We are working on organization skills and note taking. Students will receive a yellow folder for Math and Science and a purple folder for Language Arts and California History. These folders will be used to keep their work organized. Also, each student will receive a planner that will be used daily to record homework and other important information. Our goal is that students and parents will know where to look for graded work, work in progress and project due dates. This will be thoroughly explained at Back to School Night. We are fortunate to live in Sacramento as it is the perfect place to teach California History. This year we will participate in fun field trips, History in a Trunk as well as an on campus visit from the Maidu Indian Museum. Please check out the puzzles and word searches on my web site. I think you will enjoy them! I hope to meet all of my students' parents at Back to School Night! See you on the first day of school!
