Concert Band:  All freshmen must take Concert Band to give Mr. Glaser the opportunity to get to know you! This course offers more individual attention than Symphonic and Honors Concert Band. The focus is on technique, tone production and musicianship.

Symphonic Concert Band:  Open to all musicians proficient on a band instrument.  Prerequisites:  audition required; one year of Concert Band; knowledge of all major and minor scales; advanced musicianship, sight-reading ability.

Rules for both bands

Rehearsals start two (2) minutes after the bell rings. At that time students will be in their seats with instruments and music out.  Continuous tardies will result in detention, followed by Saturday school, followed by suspension. Grades will be reflected accordingly.

All band performances are mandatory and will count towards 50% of earned grades.  Due to the nature of these elective classes, performances will take place outside of regular school hours such as evenings or weekends.  An absence from a required performance will result in a lowered grade.  If a student enrolled in band is not able to commit to required performances, selection of another elective is advised.

Dress Code

Gentlemen:  Black pants, white or black button up shirts, black socks, dress shoes and a nice tie.  No athletic shoes or polo shirts.
