Hello, welcome to Mrs. Porter's (previously Pikkarainen) Class!  I teach 7th/8th grade modified Pre Algebra, as well as Study Skills to support students in all of their acadmic classes.

Students are provided time in class, to copy homework into their agendas at the start of each week.  Please ask to see your students agenda when they get home. 

A little about myself, I completed my Masters Degree in Special Education at Sacramento State in 2007.  Prior to that I attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and UC Davis.  This is my 6th year teaching at Sylvan.  I am interested in helping in any way that I can.  The best way to reach me is through email.  Please contact me with questions or concerns.

Pre Algebra Grading

Tests / Quizzes           (60%)           

Homework:                   (30%)       

Homework will be aassigned each night, and checked each day.  All homework is turned in on Fridays.  Students will begin homework in class and have 15-30 minutes left to finish at home.  Late work is given ½ credit.   

Notebook:                    (10%)       

Students use notebooks for daily notes, and warm ups!  The notebook will be instrucmental in supporting students on challenging homework.
