Homework Grades (25% of the total grade; but 100% important): Homework is graded on effort, not accuracy. This is just practice & this is where we want to get all of our mistakes worked out and answered. Homework is graded according to the following rubric:
Outstanding: 10 points All work complete; all work shown; legible Satisfactory: 7 points Almost complete; most work shown; legible Unsatisfactory or Late: 5 points Half done; missing some work; legible No work = No credit: 0 points "I did it in my head" is not a method that I can grade...sorry No work = No credit!!! Zero effort/participation: 0 points Not trying is not acceptable! Missing: 0 points Simply means that I didn't see it, or you didn't do it...sometimes no name on the paper
Talking/Cheating: 0 points ANY communication during an assessment will result in a zero for that test. Make ups are not available. Copying someone's work or letting someone copy yours will result in zero points. Both will bring down your citizenship grade HomeWork Pass: 10 points These are rewarded periodically. Some are free homework passes, some are just passes to turn late work in for full credit. Absent work is due 3 days (2 nights) from a student's return to school. Late work is due by the day of the test for half credit.
Assessments (75% of the total grade): Assessments are graded on accuracy. Everything we do in class leads us to our performance on the tests. Each part of an assessments is graded according to the following rubric. (example: 5 parts = 50 points possible)
10 points: Proficient..."gets it"
7 points: Approaching...almost understands. Often this score is received if a student makes errors in any given part of a test, but over all I can see that they understand the concept pretty well 5 points: Below..."doesn't get it"...a student receives this score if they show that they do not have a grasp on the concept. Students will receive at least 5 points on any part of an assessment if they make a good attempt. 0 points: No work to support answer; doesn't try; left blank
Citizenship Grade rubric "outstanding": 100% effort daily, no missing assignments, no need for behavior reminders "satisfactory": Good effort daily, few missing assignments, few behavior corrections needed "unsatisfactory": Poor effort, several missing assignments, several behavior corrections needed
