MISS SCHOOL - MISS OUT
When a student misses school, for whatever reason, he or she misses out on critical instructional time and our schools lose valuable funding. On the average day, SJUSD loses more than $78,500 (roughly $14,000,000 per school year) due to student absences. Parents can help their child be successful by encouraging regular attendance which has been linked to:
  • Higher achievement
  • Stronger bonds to the school community
  • Lower rates of delinquent behavior
  • Lower rates of drop out
  • Increased participation in higher education
Please remember that our school does not receive funding when a student is absent, excused or not. Please make a conscientious effort to:
  • Ensure students arrive to school on time
  • Plan family vacations during non-school days and summer break
  • Try to schedule appointments after school hours
  • Bring students to school before and after appointments that are scheduled during the school day
  • Allow a child to stay home only when he/she has a contagious illness or is too sick to be comfortable at school
  • Thanks!

Math -
6th grade math is tough! Because of this, students must show their work on all math homework problems. Students need to work out problems on a CLEAN piece of notebook paper, transfer their answers to the homework assignment, and then staple the sheet containing their work to the homework assignment. This must be done to get full credit for homework.
