3rd graders love to share themselves with an audience of their peers. Even the shyest child will proudly discuss rock collections, family vacation photos, favorite books and their Superstar poster! I have organized a Science Superstar Calendar to guarantee that every child in Room 10 has his or her week in the spotlight. This year every child will choose a science experiment to perform in front of the class during their special week. This is not supposed to be a stressful experience for you or your child. I will send some ideas home or you may choose a grade level appropriate experiment that excites your child's inner mad scientist! I will send an interview poster home at least one week ahead of your child's Science Superstar Week. This will allow you to sit down together and discuss the experiment, find photos and choose items to be shared. We will interview your child on Friday of his or her week. S/he will conduct the experiment on Friday after lunch. Please be certain to practice the experiment several times at home. Also include the supplies need for the experiment. Science Superstar is intended to bring more science joy into our room while celebrating your child. During this week, your child may also share music, artwork, collections, books, family collectibles, dolls, small pets inside of an enclosed habitat (please check with me before bringing in any pet)! One special edible treat may be brought in to share with the other children during your child's week! Each Science Superstar is also responsible for bringing in stickers for the Homework Packets. The Superstar collects the folders on Thursday morning, places a sticker on the appropriate date and returns all folders to the Homework box.
I fully understand that last minute changes may be required to accommodate family needs. Feel free to exchange dates with another child once you have gotten that family's okay. Please don't forget to let me know so that I can provide the chart to the right child. Click the sub-link to find your child's "Science SUPERSTAR WEEK!"
