THE MASTER CLASS
Welcome to "The Master Class!"
This page in our 3rd grade web site is my gift to every child in Room 10 who is interested in educating her/himself! The idea comes from a teacher named Mrs. Renz in Oregon who has had a Mastery Club for many years. I just loved the idea of testing yourself about information that you choose to learn about! Way Cool! You will have to research the answers to questions about your planet, your country, your state, your city, and so much more. You can investigate social studies one day and math the next. There are science questions about a lot of different subjects. The thing to remember is...that when you are active in your own education...you have become your own teacher for life!

What do I have to do to participate in The Master Class?
My challenge to you, is to pick a question from The Master Class list on this web page or on the wall in Room 10, find the answer on the internet using web sites provided or explore search engines like askjeevesforkids.com or google.com or maybe yahooligans.com ! The next step is to use your "Master Class Journal" to record your answer to the Master Class challenge you have researched! In other words, when you arrive in Room #10 in the morning, open your Master Class Journal, write down the question number for the challenge you are choosing to answer, write the challenge and answer it fully. Include the date beside your answer and place your journal in the basket. I will check the journals left in the "Master Class Journal" basket before our next school day. For every challenge correctly answered you will earn a star on the "Master Class" Board. Here are the levels you will pass through on your road to becoming brilliant! The number of stars you accumulate for successful challenges determines your level in the Master Class!
01-30 stars: Bronze Member
31-60 stars: Silver Member
61-100 stars: Gold Member
That's all there is to it! Be careful to dig your brain paths very deeply the night before you decide you are ready to test your brain! You may only answer one question per day! Who do you suppose will earn the most points? Can there be a 22 way tie? We'll see!
You!
Can you tell me one more time...How do I answer a challenge from The Master Class list?
Sure....I'm happy to help you get smarter!

First, you open to a clean page in your Master Class Journal. Second, write the question number in the margin. Third, copy the challenge. Fourth, write your answer or answers below the challenge. Last, check your work and put your journal into the Master Class Journal basket!
What happens when you reach the highly celebrated Gold Medal Level?
Great question! I can tell you are really thinking now! Now, your name is entered in the "Master Class Hall of Fame" on this web page. You will be famous and can now suggest challenges to add to the Master Class collection! You also earn a certificate for daring to make learning your favorite thing to do!
