Technology in the Classroom
Engage Them!

As a Technology Coach for Title 1 schools in the San Juan District, I am often asked "Why should I use computers in my classroom?" The answer is simple, engagement! However, just like any other tool, it's important to utilize computers as part of a well designed lesson.

If you're just starting to use computers in your teaching, it is best to start utilizing technology to enhance your presentation. Typically, a computer attached to a projection device and external speakers will provide a great basis for your technology enhanced lessons.

Once you've gained some familiarity with using a computer in your teaching, you are ready to have your students start using computers as part of your lessons. Student computer use is usually focused in one of two catagories: educational applications, or project based learning.

Visit my Learn More page for links to some of my favorite web based student activity pages, informative articles, WebQuest tips, and site based technology planning resources.
