Homeroom Information
Procedures for AR Books & AR Logs
Homeroom is a twenty five minute class that all Pasteur Middle School students attend every day.
During this time:
- Students watch a brief television school announcement that is produced by the Pasteur Media class.
- Receive school information forms for parents and students.
- Read an AR book for the remainder of the period.
- Request to have AR logs stamped at the end of the period.
The Accelerated Reader portion (AR) uses the bulk of the homeroom period. Students must bring their AR book everyday during homeroom along with their reading log. Once announcements are complete, the Pasteur campus stops and reads for 25 minutes. Just before the period ends, students must then bring their reading logs to Mr. R to be stamped. These stamps are worth points in English class.
If a student misplaced or lost their AR reading log, scroll to the bottom of this page to download another form.
Accelerated Reader is a program San Juan Unified uses that helps students read at their own pace, with books they like to read. Studies show that reading every day improves comprehension in all subject areas. When students feel successful, they are more likely to stay in school and make appropriate decisions when faced with peer pressure. In short, reading improves the whole child.
