Google SketchUp Math Projects
Student Built Homes Using SketchUp
Students will design a house of their choice using the application Google SketchUp. Mathematics skills such as four quadrant graphing, and trig functions will be used as well as an interactive protractor and ruler. When complete, each project must be made into an animation movie to be shown to the class.
Project Criteria:
• Foundation floor plans may only have 90º angles but may not be rectangular • Each home must include at least one gable and hip roof • All roofs must have a 30º incline • Each house must include eves • Homes must have a square footage between 1,500 to 3500 Ft2 • Projects must be mathematically correct and to scale • Imagination and practicality should both be present • All projects must be converted to an MOV file for presentation
When finished, each student must submit their final version to Mr. R for evaluation.
