Third Grade Information Third Grade is Cool!
I hope everyone had a fun-filled weekend. My husband and I took our daughter, JeAnna, to the snow for the first time. She loved it, but I think she liked wearing her new snow outfit the best. Last Friday, we had our monthly Principal's Math Challenge. This was the best month ever as far as students passing it. So kudos to you all for assisiting your child in studying the math facts. I have challenged my class that if everyone passes it for any month, I will do something extra special for them, but it is a surprise. I will also extend this challenge to any month that all students complete their monthly book reports. Unfortunately, I am still awaiting for some students to participate. In the very near future, students will be given a diorama project. It will be to create a habitat for a specific animal and to write a report. Students love this project and it is a hightlight to see them all displayed at Open House, which is scheduled for Tuesday, May i8th. The trimester ends on March 12th and starting March 17th-19th it will be parent conferences, but only for specific students with concerns. These 3 days will be minimum days where school is dismissed at 10:55. Please continue to take an active approach in monitoring your child's progress. A great way to do this is to assist, check over and sign all homework. Also, please listen to your child read and read to and with your child often. Learning the multiplication facts is crucial in 3rd grade so your child should be practicing them nightly. As always, it is such a pleasure being your child's teacher. I am having a fantastic year and feel so privileged to have a wonderful class. If at any time you would like to speak to me, you are always welcome and we can set up an appointment. Thank you for supporting your child's education. Raeanna Summers
