MAY NEWS
Reading:
*Our Reading Theme for the year is - Reading is my Super Power. Each class has chosen a "Super Hero" as their mascot. Our super hero is the Flash. Each Wednesday will be Super Hero day and students will be able to wear tshirts with any superhero - it would be fun if we all had Flash shirts for this day. (I've seen them at K Mart, or they would be easy to make)
*Reading Unit is -PERSON TO PERSON.
*Students must read 3 books / 300 pages of pleasure reading at home EACH MONTH - WE ARE NOW READING ONE HOUR EACH NIGHT.
*Each month the top 3 readers will select a free book from the Scholastic Book order.
TOP READERS FOR MARCH WERE - Samuil, Brandon and Yarelis
*Students will choose one of their 3 books for a book report/project.

**IF YOU LOOK ON THE MATH PAGE UNDER "MY RESOURCES" I HAVE ADDED PICTURES OF THE CHARTS WE USE IN CLASS. STUDENTS ALSO HAVE COPIES OF THESE IN THEIR BLUE NOTEBOOK. BOTH ARE GREAT RESOURCES IF THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR HOMEWORK.

*Unit - FEATURE ARTICLES
We have just started our unit on Feature Articles. In the coming weeks we will be reading several to find the "structure" that makes up this type of writing. Then we will be choosing a topic that interests us and writing our own.
Social Studies/AVID - We are finishing up our individual colonial projects this week and will be presenting them to the class next week. Feel free to come and watch.
