Wangari Maathai's book, Unbowed; A Memoir is the Mira Loma High School Community Read for 2007/2008.  There is a presentation each month in the library at lunch (12:10-12:42) discussing an aspect of the book.  Past & future presentations are:

     December-Mrs. Poulsen presented an Ipod cast from an interview by CPR and Mrs. Maathai. Mrs. Gibson presented a PPT about Wangari's life.

January-Mr. Kuzmich gave a PPT presenation on the history and politics of Kenya including information on the recent election.

February-Mrs. Stiles presented a PPT on the art of Africa

March-Cindi Kerr, former Peace Corps worker with Wangari, gave a slide presentation on her work in Kenya in the 1970s.

April 22-Mr. Carson will speak about the Green Belt Movement in Kenya.

May 27-Student Forum & Tree Planting
