Français 4/AP
Bienvenue Classe Français 4/AP !

In French 4 and AP, you will build upon previously-learned material to use more advanced features of the language in communicative situations. This course emphasizes all five skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing and culture.  It is important to note that instruction is conducted in French and French is the required language of student expression on all assignments. Because certain AP students have not yet completed French 4, class work, tests, quizzes and daily homework will primarily focus on French 4, with additional, independent requirements for AP students. The AP students have a schedule of work that needs to be completed each week.  The AP students must work independently at times and are expected to be proactive in the learning process.

Here is the course outline for French 4 and AP.   Please remember that the course outline is merely a guideline and may be subject to changes:

Signature Assignments:

•    French 4 and AP students are required to complete the following projects:

i.    Culture Points – Students are required to choose a topic of interest (such as art, music, literature, history, cuisine, sports, current events, etc.) and submit a research paper and oral presentation.  This project is due the first semester.

ii.    Ma Vie (My Life) – Students are required to write a 10 + page “Journal”, using the Present, Imperfect, Preterit, Conditional and Future tenses, that describes different aspects of their life.  Examples:  One page about their childhood, one page about their Friends, One Page about their future plans.

•    French AP students must complete the above projects in addition to the following project:

i.    Art Research project – Students choose a French (or French-speaking) artist and complete a research project and PowerPoint presentation in French.
