Janessa Pena, a student at Mesa Verde High School, began her story at San Juan Unified School District four years ago at Sylvan Middle School. Fast forward to the twelfth grade, Pena has found her voice and has a clear vision of her future.

Students across San Juan Unified School District were honored for their creativity and talent at the Northern California Youth Art Month (YAM) competition, held at PBS KVIE’s Art Gallery on March 1. Their work stood out among young artists from the region, earning awards in multiple categories, including painting, mixed media, 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art.

Cambridge Heights Elementary School brought stories to life on March 4 during Author Day 2025, welcoming best-selling authors Lisa McMann, author of the Unwanted series and The Forgotten Five, and Matt McMann, author of the Monsterious series.
