Principal's Message

  • Dear Parents of Incoming 6th and 7th Grade Pasteur Students,

Hello, this is Principal Dolan, officially welcoming you to our Pasteur Family and Community.  Normally we would have been meeting you face to face at our Articulation/Class Selection Night, but as you are all very well aware of, this is still not an option this year.   The main purpose of our Articulation Night was for us to meet with students and families to go over program and elective class selections.  This year we are going to give a couple options to complete the articulation process.

    1. We have tried to replicate this process via an “electronic” format.  Students will be selecting their elective classes through the Student Portal/Q. Along with this email you will have attachments and Google Forms/Applications to guide you through the class selection and course application processes.
    2. We are also going to offer the ability for students and a parent/guardian to come onto campus and meet with a counselor/teacher/administrator and go through the process.  These meetings opportunities will happen:
    1. Wednesday, May 5th from 8:00 AM-3:00 PM and 4:00-6:30 PM
    2. Wednesday, May 12th from 8:00 AM-3:00 PM and 4:00-6:30 PM

Our new, incoming 6th Grade students will be the first to participate in the Articulation/Class selection process.  They will have two weeks to get this completed.  The selection window will be open May 3rd through May 14th.  That should give you plenty of time to complete any elective or program applications your students may want.

If your student is interested in Honors classes, you will need to submit a Middle School Honors Application/Agreement and send an Honors Program Teacher Recommendation to your current 5th grade teacher.  The forms (Goggle Forms) are available via links in this email (Honors Application form); on the attachments to this email; as well as on our website under: Honors Forms. Your student will need to give the Teacher Recommendation form (https://forms.gle/CTwikf6MBhdxALDt6) to a current teacher.  The teacher will return the form to us.  Further information is below:

Students will be able to apply for placement in one, two or all three Honors classes (English, History and/or Science).  Information used to determine placement will include MAP and CAASPP test data, grades in the core subject areas, and school/teacher recommendations.  Motivation, work habits, and interest level of the student relative to each subject requested will also be considered as those skills align with the College & Career Readiness Standards articulated in the Common Core Standards.

    Elective Choices:

The Exploration Wheel:  Students will be randomly placed in art, woodshop, music appreciation, or computers for the first semester and then roll to a different elective class for 2nd semester.  For example: A student might have Woodshop first semester and roll to either art or computers for the 2nd semester.
