Dear Parents & Students:
The first quarter of the 2019-20 school year is well underway, and it is shaping up to look like a year for of positive change for all students and staff at Encina. When you come to student conference’s and Back-to-School at the beginning of October, I look forward to meeting with you and talking about the exciting year ahead. More information on those events will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead.
Our current enrollment is sitting at about 1,055 students, about where we were projected to be for the start, and about 50 more students than we ended last year. Due to the diligent efforts of our counseling staff, we have been able to place students in all the classes they need for their grade level, for graduation, and for college and career preparation. We appreciate your patience and that of our students as it has taken some time to get all the placements set.
Please be sure to encourage your students to stay on top of their assignments, to study even when they do not have homework, and to ask for help whenever they feel the need. Also, parents should log onto the ParentPortal to stay informed of their children’s grades and attendance. The portal is athttps://swwebapp8.sanjuan.edu/parentportal
The first quarter ends on October 11, and quarter grades will be mailed home on or about October 18.
Every year continues to show how families, teachers, and support staff are coming together to transform Encina into the school your child deserves. There are many aspects of this work that require our combined efforts. We will continue to ask for your input, to seek out your help, and to keep you informed, as we work to make Encina a place where parent and community collaboration is not just desired, but necessary.
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you.
