Gayle Winney is proud to teach all children, but she is most proud when she teaches children who have been historically marginalized and systematically underserved. She fights to provide the best music programs and experiences available. These include partnerships with Carnegie Hall and the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera. More recently, Winney developed a special program for refugee students that received national recognition in Parade Magazine.
Ms. Winney believes that music is a balm for growing pains, a reason for getting up every day and going to school, and a life changer. For each child that is facing a difficult time at home, at school, or in life, Gayle Winney’s classroom is a safe place, a healing ground. This is her legacy.
