Mrs. Christina Heitke
I grew up in Modesto, California and received a Bachelor of Arts in Developmental Psychology from CSU, Chico in 1988. Upon graduating and entering the work force, I discovered my calling and earned a Multiple Subject Teachers Credential from National University in 1992. I began my teaching career in the Elk Grove Unified School District as a first grade teacher, then moved to the San Juan Unified School District in 1996. In the year 2000, I earned a Master's of Science in Educational Technology from National University. Although my formal education is complete, I consider myself to be a lifelong learner. I attend workshop and trainings on a regular basis to keep me in tuned with current best practices and motivated to always try new things. . This summer I will be attending a Summer Science Institute to learn about best practices for teaching Next Generation Science Standards.
On a personal note: I am married and have three teen-age daughters: 19, 15 and 13. My family enjoys outdoor activities including: camping, hiking, swimming, the drive-in, visiting with family and friends, exploring urban areas like San Francisco and Los Angeles, and traveling up or down the beautiful coast of California. When by myself, I enjoy relaxing with a good book, going for a walk, and watching movies. As my children grow and become more independent, I am in pursuit of a new hobby. I'll keep you posted.
