• Kindergarten me at Central Avenue School

I am so excited and pleased to be a kindergarten teacher at Coyle Avenue Elementary.
I have 3 grown-up children and 7 grandchildren. I also have a dog named Louie.

This will be my eleventh year at Coyle but my 27th year as a teacher. Before coming to Coyle in 2012, I was a teacher at three other San Juan Unified schools and a master/mentor ECE teacher at Sierra College State Preschool. I have taught every primary grade from kinder to third but kindergarten is my absolute favorite. I also think it is one of the most challenging grades to teach - the most challenging AND the most rewarding! It has been said that the developmental growth in one year of kindergarten is equal to the developmental growth of children from 4th grade to 12th. Wow!

I am very excited to be working with Ms. Banahan, our IA Christina Berry and our awesome Principal, Mr. James Reinhard, this coming year as we embark on this new adventure.  Expectations are high - I aim to send all of my students on to first grade as lifelong lovers of reading and writing.  With your help and support, this will be an amazing year.We are all adventurers. This year, we will explore new ways to become amazing learners, including an exciting new science curriculum called Twig Science and a different approach to math problem solving. Together, we can do it!

Thank you so much for visiting this page. I hope you take the time to check out the Resources pages for ideas and activities to share with your kindergarten kiddo and older students, as well.
