Arden Attendance Office & Policies

  • 24 Hour Attendance Recorder Line: (916) 971-7691

Studies have shown that students who attend school on a daily basis do much better than those with frequent absences. Even a few days can make a difference, so we encourage your student to come to school daily, and to schedule medical appointments after school when at all possible.

    Early Dismissals

Please send a note in the morning with your student. They should bring it to the office first thing and get an early dismissal pass.  That way, when you show up, your child will be ready and waiting for you, and we won't have to interrupt a classroom lesson to call him or her.  If it is necessary for your child to attend a medical appointment during school hours, you should get a note from the doctor to clear your child's absence.

    To Clear an Absence

Call the attendance recorder as soon as possible, 971-7691 or 971-7306 and then press 1.
You may send a note to clear the absence or morning tardy.  Bring these to the office first thing in the morning. PLEASE include the following information:
    • Your child's first and FULL last name.
    • The DATE of the absence or tardy.
    • Your name and relationship to the student.
    • Please sign the note.
You have 5 days to clear any absences: otherwise the absence automatically becomes a cut and cannot be changed.  You may view your child's attendance on-line using the Parent Portal.

    School Work

Students are allowed to make up worked missed during an absence.  Absent students should check teacher web pages or with study buddies for homework assignments.  It is the student's responsibility to ask the teacher for make-up work and for due dates.
When a student is absent for 3 or more consecutive days, a parent can request assignments.  Requests must be received in the office by 9:00 a.m. and will be available for pick up by the end of the same school day.  No requests will be taken after 9:00 and completed assignments must be returned before more homework is requested.
If a student will be out for 5 or more consecutive days for an unexcused reason, parents may contact the attendance office 2 weeks in advance about arranging Independent Study.
