• The District provides a term life insurance policy based on employee benefit eligibility status. The amount of coverage varies by employee group. You may view the respective life insurance certificate below:
    All benefit eligible new hires need to designate a beneficiary for the term policy on the AFenroll benefit platform within 30 days of hire.  You may change your beneficiary designation at anytime by updating the AFEnroll benefit platform.  Instructions on how to update your beneficiary are available here.

    Need Supplemental Life Insurance?


    In addition to District paid basic term life insurance coverage, you can purchase additional coverage for yourself in the amount of $25,000, $50,000, $75,000 or $100,000. This is a term policy with no cash value.  Supplemental term life policies are guaranteed for policies up to $50,000 if applied for within 30 days of initial eligibility.  Employees wanting policies above $50,000 would need to apply for the additional insurance coverage by completing a health statement questionnaire for their respective employee group and submitting the application directly to Reliance Standard for underwriting approval.

    You may also purchase a $1,500 or $10,000 life insurance policy for your spouse/domestic partner and/or dependent children(up to age 21 or age 25 if a full-time student) within 30 days of your benefit eligibility.  You will be the beneficiary of the  Supplemental Spouse/Dependent Life policy.  If you wish to enroll your spouse outside the initial 30 days of benefit eligibility, you may apply for spouse coverage by completing a Statement of Health form applicable to your employee group.
