Mrs. Karen Tobey's Bio
I am pleased to say I have been a school counselor with San Juan Unified School District since the 2004-2005 school year! I completed my undergraduate work with California State University, Sacramento where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development. I went on to complete my graduate studies with the University of La Verne and received my Master of Science Degree in educational counseling.
I spent my first year of counseling in adult education, where I worked primarily with students completing their high school education, including working with returning students and concurrently enrolled High School students from throughout the San Juan Unified School District. I was thrilled when the position of school counselor became available at Greer Elementary (formerly a K-6 school and now a K-5 school) as this site was where I completed much of my internship while I was in college completing my fieldwork hours. After completing my sixth school year at Greer, I spent two years working with the students across the school District's seven K-8 Schools!
Beginning in the Fall of the 2013-14 school year, I have taken a full time counseling position at Starr King K-8!
I am happy to say that I have enjoyed all of my assignments in the District and look forward to providing counseling services to the K-8 students of Starr King! Thank you for allowing me this wonderful opportunity!
