We will be using Amplify, which is a technology based curriculum. Students can access the content online anytime, so if they are absent for some reason, they won't fall behind. We will start the year off reading Gris Grimley's adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. It has been transformed into a graphic novel that engages all readers. Every day, students will take part in a class-based competition that builds on their vocabulary word mastery. Every lesson in Amplify has a new set of vocabulary words that tie in with novel or short story that we're reading for that day. Writing is strongly emphasized and the students have at least one essay every unit. Another bonus of the curriculum is that it has a vast online library that the students can access online as well as offline, so they always have access to new books.
