Hello Carnegie Scots!
Welcome to Science! My name is Mrs. Woodford and I am so happy to be your student's 7th grade Science teacher. This is my 19th year at Carnegie and as you might have guessed, I love it here! As we transition to hybrid instruction, I want to make sure that both parents and students have the information needed for success.
Each student has been assigned a cohort. Cohorts A and B will attend Science class in person once per week and Zoom instruction once per week. Cohort C will attend Zoom twice per week and remain in distance learning. All cohorts will participate in asynchronous learning on Wednesday's. No matter which cohort your student attends, they will be provided the tools necessary to be successful in Science. For more information, please take a look at the hybrid bell schedule.
In Science, I will be working with my students using Google Classroom, Amplify and Zoom. I will provide details about assignments on Google Classroom each week. Students will dive deep into the Science content on Amplify through digital simulations, reading and writing. Google Classroom is the platform for providing assignments to students while Amplify provides us access to robust digital Science curriculum. With Zoom, students will be able to access synchronous class instruction and be able to ask questions. These platforms are available for students on their student Portal.
Each week, I will post new assignments in Google Classroom to complete. The assignments will include links to videos, Amplify lessons, simulations, articles, digital labs and more. Students will record answers to the tasks provided and turn in assignments on Google Classroom. At the end of each unit, students will be expected to complete an online assessment.
I will be available to students and parents during the regular school day, Monday through Friday from approximately 7:40 am -2:40 pm. Please take a look at the other information I have posted on this page. Send me an email or message on remind if you have any questions. You can sign up for remind using the link on the left.
I look forward to continuing to teach your student as much Science as they are willing to learn!
