• Carnegie Hall’s Link Up – Grades 3-5 at Howe Avenue School

Link Up is a partnership between Howe Avenue School (SJUSD), Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra (SPO) and The Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall.  Link Up consists of four programs: “The Orchestra Rocks,” “The Orchestra Sings,”  “The Orchestra Moves” and "The Orchestra Swings."

Carnegie Hall provides Howe Avenue School with books for all students in grades 3-5 and the Sacramento Philharmonic provides them with recorders.  At the end of the year, the students get to take home their materials.

After a year of study, all students in grades 3-5 participate in a culminating concert (buses paid by SJUSD VAPA) hosted by the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra where they either sing or play the literature studied.  The level of engagement at this concert is amazing.  That’s what Carnegie Hall does; they train us to engage students in the arts in the most creative ways.
