This year marks Mrs. Hales 15th anniversary as an elementary school teacher and her ninth year teaching Rapid Learners at Deterding. Her time in the program began in the 3rd grade classroom. She taught half-time for four years and moved to the 4th grade program in 2011. She has experience teaching grades K through 4th. She has a Master’s Degree in Language and Literacy, Multi-Subject Credential for K-8, Single Subject Credential in English, and Bachelor’s in English all from CSU, Sacramento. She received her GATE certification in 2009. Mrs. Hales graduate work involved clinical research and tutoring students with a primary language other than English, and learning disabilities, in the area of reading and language development. Professional learning includes CSUS Math Project, UC Davis Math Project, Gifted and Talented Education, and Education Through Music. Affiliations include National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, International Literacy Association, and the California Association for the Gifted. She enjoys teaching at Deterding because of the strong emphasis on visual and performing arts, the talented and passionate teachers, and community.
