Seesaw
Seesaw does it all. It's a parent-communication, a class blog for hte public, a way for students to show off their learning with peers and family, and it's a digital instructional assistant for the teacher because it fosters engagement, equity, and efficiency in the classroom when it's used for things like centers.
This is the main source of communication between myself and my student’s grown-ups. I have found that with rare exceptions, people have internet access nowadays. You can go online or use the app. You set your own username and password. Use this link to view our class blog.

Google Classroom
I use Google Classroom throughout the year for phonics centers and so students can type their summative writing pieces and create google slide projects. My first priority is for students to develop their handwriting skills so I adjust the use of technology based on student need. Google Classroom can be accessed through the San Juan Portal. You will be able to have a digital copy of their work year-to-year. Eventually, students will start using Google CLassroom for assignments as they grow older.

Donors Choose
I have raised funds for a set of 32 wiggle seats and a class set of whisper phones (students read out loud to themselves without disturbing others) to support my students. I plan on fundraising next for new books (many book series have redesigned their covers in recent years) and sending well-loved but worn series home for students to enjoy.

Kahoot
I use this website to do collaborative review of learned math skills and word work lessons. You can use Kahoot from home for fun. Students log into kahoot.it and I provide them with a game pin that generates based on the quiz I have written.

Donating Books and Scholastic Book Club
In lieu of giving me a present at the holidays or during Teacher Appreciation Week, please consider donating a book to the classroom in your child's name.
It could be a new copy of a book you and your child have treasured for years, or the latest release of a popular book series. If your child brings a special book to the classroom, I will have a special ceremony where they present the book to the classroom, write a message on the inside cover, and then they place the book in the room. It's a very special event for children and they LOVE to donate a book to their classmates. In addition, please consider using Scholastic when you purchase books for your child. My class will receive credit and I'll use the points towards purchasing new books for the students. Hooray for literacy!
