California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)

  • California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress, also known as CAASPP, will continue to be implemented this year. (www.caaspp.org/about/testing/index.html) These assessments will allow stakeholders to understand student progress and curriculum reliability. CAASPP entails a couple of different assessments.  These assessments will be administered between April 25 and May 27. More specific dates will be given to parents closer to the date of the assessments. It is imperative students arrive to school on time each day of the testing period in order to allow students the best opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency.

    • Smarter Balanced Testing will assess students in grades 3 through 6 at LeGette School in the subject areas of English Language Arts (ELA) and math. These assessments will be administered online using our three sets of Chrome Books. Practice tests are accessible for students use at home and at school. Parents who are curious what these assessments will look like can access these practice tests online (www.caaspp.org/practice-and-training/index.html).
    • California Standards Test (CST) for Science is administered to 5th graders at LeGette School. These are multiple-choice tests. Items on these tests are developed by California educators and test developers and are written specifically to assess students’ achievement of California’s academic content standards in science. This is a paper-pencil test.

All of these assessments are designed to offer students, families, and teachers understanding of what students are learning to be successful. Please visit www.sanjuan.edu/testing for answers to many of the questions you may have and to take practice tests and watch videos explaining in more detail the Smarter Balanced Field Test.

Our teachers and staff have been working hard to prepare students for this change. Please call the school at (916) 867-2056 if you have any further questions.
