    Dental Careers

    Course Description

    This two semester course prepares the student to work in the dental office as a dental assistant. The dental assistant works directly with the dentist in the treatment area. Students will complete basic dental core and operating procedures including but not limited to; seating and preparing patients, dental instruments, infection control, dental materials, fabrication of study models, four hand techniques, manipulation of x-rays, and assisting the dentist during patient care.

    Meeting Days & Times

    There are two sections and they are both Monday through Friday.
    The morning section is from 8:30-11:30 AM and the afternoon section is from 12:30-3:30 PM.
    Students need to choose morning or afternoon section when applying for the course.

    General science courses including microbiology, general anatomy, and nutrition.

    Enrollment Information

    Adult sign ups start May 1st, the cost is $700.00, sign ups are held at Sunrise Tech Center 7322 Sunrise Blvd. Rm# 18 & 19 Citrus Heights CA 95610, and the course is held at Encina Preparatory High School Room #E-2

    Yes - School dress code required

    Also - Students are required to wear burgundy colored medical scrubs while in class and attending internship sites. High School students will be supplied with medical scrubs that are embroidered with the San Juan Unified School District logo.

     Yes - San Juan Unified Scool District Requirements

    Also - All students are required to provide a copy of Hepatitis B Vaccination (HBV) and a negative test result for Tuberculosis (TB) prior to attending the internship portion of the Dental Careers program.

    High school credits earned?

    High school students will earn a total of 30 elective credits upon completion of the course (15 Elective Credits per Semester).
