• Highlights 

    Year 1 = Intro to Engineering [IED] -

    Open to 9th and 10th Grade students

    Students dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science, and engineering standards to hands-on projects like designing a new toy or improving an existing product. This class focuses on the following high points:

    -Engineering problems solving and design process

    -Drafting process and rules

    - 3-D drafting of objects.

    - Basic calculations of Area, volume, Mass, Density, Probability, and


    - Vocabulary of Engineering and engineers.

    -3-D printing of drawn/drafted objects.


    Successful Students have the following skills:

    Successful completion of grade level math. (Math 8 for 8th graders, IM2 for Freshmen)

    Sees a problem as a challenge.

    Problem solver.



    VAPA credit for Graduation* 

    Real world, practical application of knowledge gained thus far in Science, Math and Art

    Completion of 1 of 3 courses in the sequence.
