Here at Schweitzer, our library has a wide variety of books. We have picture books and chapter books that span a wide range of reading levels and topics. We have nonfiction books on a variety of interesting and relevant subjects. The library also has many biographies about amazing people and even graphic novels!
This little library houses approximately 9,000 titles. From Kindergarten-2nd grade, students may check out one book at a time. From 3rd-5th grade, students take on more responsibility and may check out two books at a time.
Here at the Schweitzer Library, we impress upon the importance of being responsible with the books borrowed from the library. Students are expected to take good care of the books and return them in a timely manner. During their time in the library, students will also spend some of that time on the computers learning many important skills such as mouse control, typing, research, and the use of Google Docs.
The Schweitzer Library hosts two Scholastic Book Fairs a year (the week of Family Reading Night and Open House). Proceeds from the book fairs help us buy new books for the library.
