Clinical Medical Assistant Program (including Medical Terminology and Work Skills)

    Students interested in the Clinical Medical Assistant program must attend a Mandatory Orientation and Assessment session on Wednesday, June 1st from 10am to 12pm in the Sunrise Tech Center Multi-Purpose Room. 

    Please allow 2 hours for the Orientation and Assessment. 

    There is a high demand for this class, so you will need to RSVP for the Mandatory Orientation/Assessment as space is limited. When you complete the RSVP, please list your name as it appears on your valid photo ID. Please do not bring children as they will not be allowed at the orientation/assessment session and bring your valid photo ID.

    Earn your Clinical Medical Assistant Certificate in just 14 weeks for only $890.00 (not including textbooks) 

     The Clinical Medical Assistant Certificate Program is a concurrent two-part program providing students with the technical vocabulary and anatomy knowledge and the practical experience necessary for successful entry-level employment as clinical medical assistants.

    Students will receive step-by-step industry-standard clinical/ back-office training. Part 1, Introduction to Medical Terminology and Work Skills, covers medical terminology and anatomy and includes insurance coding and billing, customer service, scheduling of appointments, and medical office computer training. Part 2, Clinical Medical Assisting, provides practical hands-on clinical experience by teaching patient interview skills, patient positioning, vitals, blood pressure, injections, ECG, CPR and more.  

    Students successfully completing both parts earn a Certificate of Completion and optional externship placement for students who qualify. Students are offered the opportunity to take the National Healthcare Association (NHA) exam to qualify as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).

    Take the two parts together and complete your CMA training in as little as 14 weeks!  Or you may register for Introduction to Medical Terminology and Work Skills by itself.

    Prerequisites:

    • Proof of a high school (or college) diploma (if from outside the United States, the diploma must be translated into English) or GED.  Provide at registration.
    • Written proof of a current TB test within two (2) weeks of the class start date.
    • Scrubs (any color) worn with closed-toed/heeled shoes are required within two (2) weeks of the class start date. 
    • Basic computer skills, including the ability to create, save, and email a document.
    • Minimum typing speed of 25 wpm. 

     

    To be assessed during the Mandatory Orientation:

    • English fluency as determined by a CASAS reading score of 230 or better. (Students scoring below the required level will be referred to ESL (English as a Second Language) classes.)
