About Testing in San Juan Unified
Each San Juan Unified school (and worksite) offers its students and employees FREE and confidential COVID-19 testing as part of the state's testing program. The district also offers centralized testing locations multiple times each week.
Testing provided at these sites can include:
- Screening testing of interested students and staff
- Testing for students on modified quarantine
- Testing for students or staff returning from illness with symptoms consistent with COVID-19
- Testing if required for students to participate in band or athletics
- Testing of students, staff or volunteers who are participating in a field trip or other experience.
Depending on the need, tests may be antigen-based rapid tests which provide results in 15 to 30 minutes or PCR tests which are sent to a lab for processing and typically provide results within 72 hours.
ANYONE CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING SYMPTOMS CONSISTENT WITH COVID-19 MAY NOT TEST AT A SCHOOL CAMPUS OR DISTRICT TESTING SITE.
If you are currently experiencing symptoms, please contact your healthcare provider for medical advice and or testing. Once your symptoms have resolved or greatly improved, you may contact your school site to schedule testing or visit one of the district testing locations. If more than 10 days have passed since the onset of your symptoms, and you have not tested positive for COVID-19 while you had symptoms or in the last 14 days, you do not need a negative COVID-19 test result to be eligible to return to school or work.

Screening Testing
Each site offers at least one opportunity per week for screening testing of interested students and staff. Check with your school for their weekly day and time or check the finder below.
Screening testing is for asymptomatic individuals who wish to check for infection. It is appropriate for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.

Pre-Register for Testing
Pre-registration helps students and staff prepare for COVID-19 testing. You only have to register one time for all COVID-19 testing types – PCR (lab) and Antigen (rapid) – tests. The same registration is valid for all district testing locations, dates, and times.
Every student and staff member must have their own registration.

Getting Your Test Results
After testing, you will receive your test result report via text message or email depending on what information you provided during registration.
If you are required to test, you will need to provide your test result to the appropriate staff for verification. Employees required to test to meet the requirements of the Aug. 11 state health order must upload their test result in the COVID-19 Employee Vaccination Verification system accessed via the San Juan Portal.
