Families are encouraged to tour the IBMYP - Diplomat classes at Winston Churchill MS on the two designated visitation days in November. A virtual tour will also be available on our website. Tours will take place in November. Tours are led by experienced IBMYP - Diplomat students. Winston Churchill MS encourages families to bring their student with them.

Confirmation of acceptance in the program will occur in February once all commitment letters have been processed. You will then receive more information when Churchill sends out matriculation dates in April. 

The Commitment Letter is not a guarantee of placement, but rather an indication by families that they are willing to give up their seat at their current school should their student be placed in the IBMYP - Diplomat at Winston Churchill MS for the upcoming school year. Families will receive a letter in early February indicating if their student is placed in IBMYP - Diplomat at Winston Churchill MS or is on the waiting list. If your student is not placed in the IBMYP - Diplomat, your student will not forfeit their seat at the school they are currently attending. Your student will continue on their current track (current school, assigned middle school, or open enrollment choice).

Residents of the district have the same priority for placement as currently enrolled students, as well as a priority over students who are not enrolled and do not reside in the district’s boundaries. The district establishes eligibility criteria to qualify for the IBMYP - Diplomat at Winston Churchill MS. We send out letters to families of currently enrolled students notifying them that their student is qualified to be considered for a place in the IBMYP - Diplomat, and we give these families a deadline for committing to Winston Churchill’s program. Your student will be considered with those students who return a Commitment Letter and has as much opportunity for placement in the IBMYP - Diplomat as currently enrolled students. We mail acceptance letters for the IBMYP - Diplomat at Winston Churchill MS in early February.

Yes. GATE identification is not a factor in the IBMYP - Diplomat program eligibility criteria for placement at Winston Churchill MS.

The application period for placement in the IBMYP - Diplomat for the 2025-26 school year will begin on October 1, 2024 and will end on November 22, 2024. We receive more applications than seats available and will have an extensive waiting list. We do not accept new applications outside of the application window.

The district establishes criteria for our currently enrolled students. We send out letters to families who are qualified, and we give them a deadline for commitment. As students not currently enrolled in the district and not currently residing in the district apply for the IBMYP - Diplomat at Winston Churchill MS, we evaluate the applicants based on the posted eligibility criteria. We first place current students and district residents attending a private or charter school and then place the highest out-of-district applicants. Out-of-district applicants are placed according to their ranking until all spaces in the program are filled.

No, if your child is in enrolled in IBMYP - Diplomat this year, then he or she will stay in the program through 8th grade and will have priority to continue to 9th grade at Mira Loma High School.

No. If you do not return a Commitment Letter, your child will need to re-qualify for the next school year. If your student meets the thresholds of the eligibility criteria as a 6th grader for placement as a 7th grader, then they will qualify and be ranked according to the posted criteria.
