District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)

The District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) is a group of parents, guardians, and community members who help improve education for English learner students.

DELAC gives advice to the school district about:

  • Programs and services for English learner students.
  • The district's plan to support English learners.
  • The needs of English learner students and their families.
  • Goals to help students learn English and do well in school.
  • How students become fluent in English and are reclassified.
  • Important district plans, including the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).

Most DELAC members are parents or guardians of English learner students. Members receive training from the English Learner Department so they can understand their role and help share the ideas and needs of English learner families.
