Welcome to Mr. Kearney's Class!
Hello and welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I am honored to be returning for my 16th year as Arden’s Special Day Class teacher and am looking forward to working with new and returning families. Ms. Carol also returns as my amazing Instructional Assistant! This year, I'm excited to be teaching 100% of my classes in room 24. These include the Intervention Math class, Read 180 Next Generation (which will be taught in one class period to accommodate two other reading intervention curricula that I will be piloting this year) and the Directed Study class. I will also be supporting an 8th grade history class 3rd period and an 8th grade Science class 5th period.
I am also excited to be a part of the San Juan Pilot Committee to adopt a new Intervention Reading course. I will be trying out two new programs (more information about these as the pilot time draws near), one in September and one in December.
My math class will continue to use IXL.com - a web-based math skills program designed to help students polish their math skills from Pre-K to the high school level - as well as Fast Math and Fraction Nation, two programs that will also be made available to your student via the district server.
If you're new to my website, it's fairly easy to navigate. You can learn a bit about me in the About Me section. You can access homework listings, plus a schedule of the school year and classroom events by clicking on My Class Calendar. In the Class Files section, you can find classroom handouts and homework files (including the Reading Log) in .pdf format. The Resource Links section includes the login pages for both IXL Math and Read 180 Next Generation, plus information about the state standards in education for all subjects as well as other helpful educational resources to keep both parents and students entertained and informed. Thanks for checking back regularly- I will make weekly (and as needed) updates to this site. I look forward to another great adventure!
