San Juan Unified values transparency in its decision making and records keeping processes. Members of the public who have a question on a specific topic or would like access to specific documents are encouraged to contact the appropriate office directly.

California's Public Records Act Requests
The district's Legal Services office receives these requests and will respond within the timelines provided in the law. You may submit a formal request by calling (916) 971-7110, completing this form, or emailing.
Please do not request student records or transcripts with these links.
All subpoenas and legal request for student records (academic and special education) should be directed to Legal Services.
Student Withdrawal Request- 2025/2026
If you wish to withdraw your student from a San Juan Unified School District site for the 2025/2026 school year, Please CLICK HERE.
Only parents/legal guardians can withdraw students. Cumulative files will be archived until the new school schools sends an official request for records to the SJUSD school site the student was to attend.

Student Academic Records
If you need to request school records for yourself or your student, please fill out this form and it will be submitted electronically to recordsrequest@sanjuan.edu. Examples of Student records: Behavior, Attendance, Proof of Enrollment, Immunization records, etc. When requesting records, you must provide a copy of valid ID. The form will prompt you to upload before submitting. If requesting via email or in person, a copy of your ID must be submitted.
Note- cumulative files and hard copy records of in-district students are kept for 5 years then destroyed. Not all records are digital. If the student left the district, please contact the last known school of enrollment for records. Former students over the age of 18 must request their own records.
The form is available in English and Spanish by selecting the language at the top right of the form. Click on the down arrow to change from English to Spanish.

Transcripts
If you are a current or former San Juan Unified School District high school student you may order your high school transcripts from the school where you graduated or last attended. School contact information is available under Transcript Request Tab. Former students over the age of 18 must request their own transcript.
Former students who are incarcerated, a Request of Information (ROI) must be completed signed and sent to recordsrequest@sanjuan.edu
Note- Copies of Diplomas are not available. The original diploma given at the time of graduation is the only one that exists. If you did not receive your original diploma, please contact the Registrar at your high school to make arrangements to pick up your original diploma.

Student Special Education Records
Please contact the San Juan Unified Special Education Office to request copies of IEPs.
**Note** hard copy Special Education records are destroyed after 3 years. Not all records are digital.

Non- San Juan Unified Schools Requesting Records
If you are a school or educational program requesting student records, please send an official records request on your school official letterhead to the school site. Please do not use any of the San Juan Unified School District record request forms. Those are for current or former students and parents.
