Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance Requirement
California law requires all school volunteers to provide documentation showing they have met the state's Tuberculosis (TB) clearance requirement before volunteering.
What are the TB clearance requirements?
As part of the updated volunteer process, volunteers must complete one of the following:
- A TB screening risk assessment signed by a medical professional. If your medical provider wishes, they may use the form linked below.
- OR official documentation from a licensed healthcare provider indicating that you have already been assessed and cleared of TB within the past four years. If your TB clearance expires during the current school year, you will need to obtain a new TB clearance from your medical provider in order to volunteer.

If you have already been assessed and cleared of TB by a medical provider within the past four years, you may upload proof of clearance from your medical provider to satisfy this TB clearance requirement. If your TB clearance expires during this school year, you will need to obtain a new TB clearance from your medical provider in order to volunteer.
If you are a San Juan Unified School District employee and also wish to volunteer for the 2026-27 school year, you will not need to complete the TB clearance requirement since it is already a requirement for employment.
Need a Healthcare Provider?
The district does not provide TB Risk Assessments or TB testing for volunteers. If you do not have a primary care provider or health insurance, there are community resources that may be able to help.
