    August 2021

Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year, Wildcats!

I can speak for our entire staff when I share with you that we could not be more thrilled to welcome everyone back to full-time, in-person instruction! I am so proud of what we were able to accomplish through tough odds last year and am looking forward to seeing how we apply all we have learned from the last year.

This year, we are going to be going slow to go fast. Our teachers are committed to taking the time to really understand where our students are academically and will be working hard to accelerate learning for all kids! On top of this, our staff will be diving into the Social Justice Standards with a heavy focus on the Identity Standards! We are committed to ensuring all students feel that they are a part of the Northridge community.

I am so very excited to share that we have many new faces joining the Wildcat Family this year! Please join me in welcoming Ms. Danya Swanson to our Kinder Team, Mrs. Mendez to our 2nd grade team, Ms. Shannon Brown to our 4th grade team, Ms. Motiey as our Intervention Teacher, our new music teacher, Mrs. Katherine Laurente and Ms. Kathy Thao as our new Speech Teacher! We also have new support staff on campus as well. Join me in welcoming our Instructional Assistants, supporting our K-2 classes:  Ms. Laura Lasko, Ms. Karina Kozlov, Ms. Christine Casares, Ms. Lindy Heberlein and Ms. Nancy Alvarado (Bilingual Instructional Aide - Spanish). Finally, a big welcome to our new Rec Aide, Ms. Sandra Cossey!

If you have not already done so, please consider joining us on social media, where you will receive updates and announcements. You can find us at @NRWildcats on Instagram and join our family page on Facebook at Northridge Elementary or the closed group, “Northridge Parent/Family Group.”

I also send out weekly all calls on Sunday evenings with information on the upcoming week. Please be sure to listen to those calls and check your email for these announcements!

As your site principal, please know that I am committed to ensuring that all families and students feel welcome and safe at Northridge. My door is always open if you have concerns or questions. I return calls and respond to emails within 24 hours. I can be reached at 916-971-7066 or petra.luhrsen@sanjuan.edu
