    Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year, Wildcats!

    We are looking forward to another year of laughter, teaching, and learning. While we will not be with you in person as we start the year with Distance Learning, we are looking forward to working with you all through daily interactions over different platforms.

    Our teachers and staff have been busy setting up their Google classrooms for you to access all the tools you’ll need as we start the year together. There will be quite a bit more information coming soon, so hang on to your questions and we will work to get them answered as soon as possible.

    This fall will look a bit different in terms of instruction as compared to the spring. These changes include:

    • Students will be required to engage in learning with their teacher for a specific number of minutes per day. A schedule will be forthcoming so you can anticipate the time/s your student/s will need to log in.
    • Grades will be assigned as numerical grades instead of participation grades. Grades will be earned through both synchronous (learning in real time with their teacher) and asynchronous (assignment completion) instruction.

     

    Please note that Chromebook distribution and materials pick up is Friday, August 7th. The schedule is as follows: 

    • 9:00-10:00 K
    • 10:00-11:00 1st
    • 11:00-12:00 2nd
    • 12:30-1:30 3rd
    • 1:30-2:30 4th
    • 2:30-3:30 5th
    • 3:30-4:30 6th
    • 4:30-5:30 Open (make up times)

     

    When you come on campus, please go directly to the MP Room to check in during your scheduled time. If you have multiple students, please come during your youngest child’s time. 

    Our House Leaders are also looking forward to seeing current House Members as well as welcoming new House Members during our House Reveal Zoom Ceremony at 9:00am on Friday, September 11th. Returning students will continue in the same House as last year and new students will become part of one of the following Houses: 

    Astrologos: the House of Dreamers | Dobrota: the House of Empathy

    Mahalo: the House of Gratitude | Pativ: the House of Honor

    Tiyaga: the House of Perseverance | Valeroso: the House of Courage

    Your child/ren will participate in weekly House Meetings over Zoom during a regularly scheduled Meeting Time.

     Our office opens Monday, August 3rd and is open for essential business. We encourage you to call or email with any questions. Should you require assistance in person, please note the following:

    • We ask that should you have any COVID-19 symptoms, you wait 72 hours prior to coming on campus.
    • To allow for social distancing, only one family will be allowed in the office at a time.
    • Masks are required on campus. Should you need a mask, we are happy to provide you with one upon request.

     

    If you have not already done so, please consider joining us on social media, where you will receive updates and announcements.     I also send out weekly all calls on Sunday evenings with information on the upcoming week. Please be sure to listen to those calls and check your email for these announcements!

    As your site principal, please know that I am committed to ensuring that all families and students feel welcome and safe at Northridge. My door is always open if you have concerns or questions.
