    Hello Skycrest Families,

The past week has brought about changes to our everyday life that many of us never thought we would encounter.  Our typical everyday activities have been uprooted, with the simplest of activities changed.  I wanted to take a few minutes to offer some words of support and encouragement as we all work together during this time of school closure.

The one thing I have found that helps to settle anxiety and seems to work with my own family is to continue with a daily routine.  Try to keep your everyday schedule the same.  The one area that all students need to have is structure each day and this includes a time for student learning.  Though our children may think this is a break we need to remind them this is a change in learning and take advantage of the opportunities that are available.  The Skycrest Staff have been working diligently to ensure that even though our students are not in the classroom we can still provide opportunities to continue learning and communicate with their teacher everyday.  All students should be reading everyday, reviewing skills that have been taught in the classroom and taking advantage of the enrichment activities that are being provided by their teacher.

ALL classroom teachers have sent an email to parents sharing how they will be keeping in touch with students and families during this time we are out of the classroom.  If you did not receive an email from your child’s teacher please email your child’s teacher and let them know, this will also provided them a way to connect with you.  ALL staff, classroom and support teachers, have their email address listed on the Skycrest webstite: www.sanjuan.edu/Skycrest , click “How to communicate with your teacher.” It will show you the ways teachers are connecting with parents and students.  Also on the website we have listed online resources that students utilize at school and will provide learning opportunities for all students, both academic and physical.  Please take advantage of these opportunities and have your child get involved!

Also available on the website are the locations for lunch and breakfast pickup.  Meals are available at 27 San Juan schools; Kingswood and San Juan High School are the closet locations to Skycrest.  Meals are available for pickup from 11:30 – 12:30 Monday through Friday, 3/ 17 – 4/3 for children up to 18 years of age, children must be present when picking up a meal.

Please know that we are here to support you in this learning adventure.  If you have any questions please contact myself, Ms. Parsley – VP, the classroom teacher, or one of the other staff members who provide support to our students.
