Principal's Message

  • August, 2018

Welcome to Starr King K-8 School, home of the Stallions!  At Starr King, we value diversity and excellence and embrace each student's individuality, while working together to learn, grow, and develop into productive citizens.

As a community, we are dedicated to serving the developmental needs of Kindergarten through Middle School, and we are committed to strong academics aligned to the Common Core State Standards.

We work to capture our students’ interests through project-based learning, technological integration, enrichment opportunities, such as choir, band, art, sports, school wide events, assemblies, field trips, and recognition programs.   Starr King K-8 serves students with a variety of specialized needs, and we strongly value our inclusion program.  Our English Language Learners have access to specialized services so that they can practice academic language on a daily basis.  Starr King K-8 is committed to accelerating the academic and social emotional growth of all our students.  We are fortunate to have counselors, social workers, intervention teachers, an academic coach, and a Vice Principal who assist with the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS).  We have an amazing, innovative staff who work hard to provide a high quality education to all students.

At Starr King, we recognize that in order for students to reach their full potential they must receive support from both home and school. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children's success. As a school, we are committed to meet the individual needs of all students and maintain personal connections with all families. Our teachers are your best resource so we encourage you to connect and build strong partnerships with your child’s teacher.

Family and community support provides the foundation that prepares students to succeed at school. We invite you to become active participants in our school community by joining our School Site Council and ELAC committees, volunteering as classroom assistants, field trip supporters, school activity planners, and lunch supervisors. At home, we ask for your support to make sure your child gets to school on time, attends school regularly, reads everyday, and is supported in pursuing and developing their passions.

It is an honor and privilege to be the principal at Starr King K-8 School. It is both exciting and humbling to work with the most talented and dedicated staff, the kindest students, and the hardest working families within our community. I look forward to partnering with you to make this an exciting and successful year for our students.
