• Hello Trajan Families,

While we sincerely wish we could all be together for the start of the school year, at this time we need to begin the year in a Distance Learning environment.  While this will pose challenges for many of us, it is also an opportunity to seek new ways of engaging our students and building stronger relationships with our families and community.  We are working hard within our staff and throughout the district to share best practices with each other and to provide the best, most positive learning environment for all of our children.

When school begins on Thursday, August 13th, all classes will be meeting virtually.  Families will receive information from their child’s teacher regarding meeting times and schedules.  Each teacher will create their class schedule; however are a minimum number of minutes that must be taught each day.

For kindergarten, students receive a total of 180 minutes of instruction daily that includes both synchronous instruction (such as, live class meetings) and asynchronous instruction (such as, assignments to be completed independently without the teacher instructing them live online).  During those 180 instructional minutes, students will receive a minimum of 45 minutes per day of synchronous instruction (not necessarily all at once - for instance, the teacher may decide to hold one 20 minute live class session and then another 25 minute class session) and the remainder of the instructional minutes would be asynchronous activities.

For 1st-3rd grades, students will receive a total of 230 minutes of instruction daily with a minimum of 55 minutes of synchronous instruction and the remainder of the instructional minutes would be asynchronous activities.

For 4th & 5th grades, students will receive a total of 240 minutes of instruction daily with a minimum of 65 minutes of synchronous instruction and the remainder of the instructional minutes would be asynchronous activities.

Even though we are meeting virtually every day, we will still be taking attendance.  If your child will not be able to participate in the class meetings please call the attendance line at 916-971-5202 (24 hours) and leave a message, or email TrajanAbsence@sanjuan.edu. It is VERY important that your child ensures that they are logging in each day.

Student meals will be available for pick up on campus from Nutrition Services.  Families can pick up breakfast and lunch items between 7:00 -8:30 a.m. each school day starting August 13th. Please be sure to fill out a Meal Application online as soon as possible (or hard copies will be available on campus).
