What We Do
The Professional Learning and Innovation departartment oversees and supports the development of new courses, instructional materials adoptions, and professional learning.ANNOUNCEMENT:
The purpose of this announcement is to clarify that the Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE) and the California History-Social Studies (H-SS) materials, recently approved by our Board of Trustees, are unrelated. There is a great deal of misinformation about CSE and H-SS. In an effort to communicate and be transparent with our community, San Juan Unfiied would like to share the following facts:
Communication Regarding Comprehensive Sexual Health and 2019 Health Framework
In April 2019, the San Juan Unified Board of Education adopted new history-social science materials for grades TK-8, high school world history, and high school United States history. These materials are compliant with the Fair, Accurate, Inclusive and Respectful (FAIR) Education Act, which changes Education Code to be more inclusive of a variety of groups in our community. For more information, please see San Juan's Frequently Asked Questions document at www.sanjuan.edu/historyfaq.
