  • What We Do


    The Professional Learning and Innovation departartment oversees and supports the development of new courses, instructional materials adoptions, and professional learning. 

    ANNOUNCEMENT:

    During the 2021-2022 school year, San Juan Unified is piloting science, health and Spanish instructional materials for possible adoption. In science, we are adopting instructional materials for the following courses: 

    • Biology: the Living Earth
    • Chemistry in the Earth System
    • Physics of the Universe 

    We are also adopting materials for the high school health course and Spanish 1, 2, 3, and 4, including the Spanish 1a and 1b courses offered at some middle schools. 

    We value stakeholder input on the materials being considered and we are pleased to invite you to preview the materials and share your feedback as we go through the piloting process. There are three options for previewing materials:

    • Instructional Materials Open House on October 7 from 4-6 p.m. in room 13 of Choices Charter School (4425 Laurelwood Way, Sacramento, CA 95864). Visitors are required to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth and social distancing guidelines will be observed. Masks will be provided. 
    • Materials will also be available for public viewing from Oct. 8- Nov. 18, 2021. View the instructional materials any time Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in room 18 of Choices Charter School. Visitors are required to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth and social distancing guidelines will be observed. Masks will be provided.
