Volunteers make things happen at Del Dayo!

  • Parent volunteers are a valuable asset to the entire school community.  There are many opportunities to volunteer at Del Dayo. Through our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), the school benefits from beautification projects, assemblies and social and fundraising opportunities such as the annual Fall Festival, Innisbrook gift wrap and our Spring Auction. Parents are also active on the School Site Council.  Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the classroom, chaperone on field trips, assist with at-home tasks, and provide art history to the classrooms through the Art Docent program.

Here's the information you'll need to become a volunteer:

    Fingerprinting

All volunteers who work directly with children away from staff or who drive/accompany students on field trips must be fingerprinted in order to conduct a background check from the Department of Justice, per SJUSD board policy.

If you have never been fingerprinted with SJUSD before, you will need to pick up a Fingerprint Authorization Form from the school office.  Fingerprinting is free, and must be done at the SJUSD Human Resources Department located at 3738 Walnut Avenue, Carmichael 95608.  Fingerprinting hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.  Once you are fingerprinted, your clearance is good as long as you have a student in the district (and commit no crimes).

Note: Fingerprint clearances are considered confidential information and, thus, are not transferred from school to school.  So, as your child switches schools, you must contact your new school and provide them with your information so they can request their own copy of the clearance from Human Resources.

If you have been fingerprinted at a previous SJUSD school, please call the Del Dayo office at (916) 575-2323 and provide your full legal name, your birth date, the last four digits of your social security number, and the name of the SJUSD school your were originally printed for.  Our office staff will then request your clearance which will be electronically transmitted to us from Human Resources/DOJ.

    Driving Forms

If you are going to drive on a field trip, you must have a current, completed and signed “Volunteer Personal Automobile Use Form” on file with the school office.  Forms are available in the school office or via the link at the bottom of this webpage.  A photocopy of your driver’s license and proof of insurance is also required.  This documentation must be renewed each school year or any time the information changes. The information is shredded at the end of each school year.  We urge you to take care of these requirements early in the school year so that you will be free to volunteer at the school as much as you like.
