NWEA-MAP Testing for Grades 3-6
Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) is a test that measures how well a student can apply their skills to questions aligned to the Common Core Standards in Reading and Mathematics. In San Juan Unified, all students in grades 3-9 will take the MAP assessments in Reading and Mathematics. DPM will be testing from Monday, 8/19 to Friday, 9/20. If you have additional questions, please contact your classroom teacher. Thank you!
Student Meal Benefits
Student meal benefits from last school year will expire on September 26 if there is not a current 2019/20 meal application on file at the Nutritional Services office. Forms can be picked up in the school office.
School Site Council
School Site Council will have their first meeting of the school year on Tuesday, September 17 at 2:55 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. We have an opening for a parent representative. If you are interested, please call the school office (575-2330). The School Site Council receives first-hand knowledge about school curriculum, budget, district, and state changes and approves use of the funds. The School Site Council meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
Picture day is Friday, Sept 6. Look for picture package information to go home soon. Picture packages may be purchased online at mylifetouch.com or payment may be sent in on picture day (9/6) using the package payment envelope.
If your child will be absent, please be sure to call the school (575-2330 –press 1 for attendance) each morning that your child(ren) will be absent. Upon your child’s return, please turn in any doctor and/or dental documentation to the school office. Also, if your child is tardy due to an appointment, please bring the office your documentation. This documentation is required for an “excused” absence/late.
Drop off and Pick up
For safety, students should not arrive before 7:45 a.m. if eating breakfast, and 8:05 a.m. for all other students as this is when supervision begins.

Snack Donations Needed
The 3 kindergarten classes are requesting non-perishable snacks that do not have any peanuts in them. Some suggestions are: Goldfish, Graham crackers, Individual applesauces, Wheat thins or other kinds of crackers, Granola bars. You can bring them by Room 1 or the office!
Throughout the school year, the office provides a change of clothes for students in need during the school day when available. If you have elastic waist boys or girls pants sizes 4-10 that your child has outgrown, the office would greatly appreciate a donation. The office is also always in need of boys and girls brand new underwear size 4-10. Thank you!

When a student needs an early dismissal for an appointment, please sign your child(ren) out at the school office and bring your identification. Students will not be called out of class during the last 10 minutes of the school day, so please arrive early if your child has an afternoon appointment.
There is NO school in San Juan Unified School District on Friday, October 4 and Monday, October 7.
October 3rd is Vision Screening for students in Kinder, 2nd and 5th grades.
October 8-11 Progress notices are issued for students in jeopardy of not meeting standards or receiving an unsatisfactory mark.
October 24 is Picture retake day
