Grade Level Supply Lists

  • Dear GRDC Families,

    Here are the grade level specific supply letters for the 2019-2020 school year. K-5 Class assignments will be mailed home in early August. Schedule pick-up for Grades 6, 7, and 8 will be Wednesday August 14, 2019 from 10:00am - 11:00 am in the multi-purpose room.  Please call the office for specific details and questions at the beginning of August once the office is open.  





    Special Note on School Supply Lists:

    All required materials and supplies will be provided by schools to students at no cost. We recognize that many families wish to provide supplies for their own student or donate materials for the entire school community and are welcome to do so at any time. These supply lists are provided as suggested materials and are not required of any student or family to fully participate in the school’s academic program.  A need for all classrooms is tissue.  Teachers are very appreciative of any donation for classroom use.

    English/History

    For English, please make sure to read over the summer break!  Be prepared to talk about your reading when we return in August and also bring your 7th grade reading log and an independent reading book (IR) with you on the first day of class. 

     

    Math/Science

    Consider reviewing concepts on Kahn Academy or practicing your skills at www.math-play.com/math-fractions-games.html. For science, please find an interesting science article and bring it to share on the first day of class!

    Dear 5th Grader and Parents,

     

                Welcome to the 2019- 2020 school year!  We are excited about having you in our classes and can’t wait to hit the ground running in August and have a very successful learning experience.  Enjoy the rest of your summer!

                Below are the supplies we would like you to have for the year.  Other than the optional items, all listed supplies are used throughout the year. Please try to bring them in on the first day of school so that we can try to get organized right away. Some materials won’t be needed until later in the year so a handful of things will be coming back home the first day. (Nothing needs to be new-except maybe Kleenex!)

     

    1- 1.5” binder-white with clear view cover (assessment binder for all graded work)

    1- 0.5” inch white binder with clear view cover (2nd tri. Project)

    5- solid colored pocket folders (need to be sturdy)

    2- block erasers (or your own box of pencil top erasers to use throughout the year)

    Gold River Discovery Center First Grade Supply List

    Below you will find a general list of first grade supplies that your child will need for this year. Our desks are tiny, so please keep that in mind when shopping for supplies. Your child will need these items on the first day of school. Please be aware that some items will be shared as a grade level.

    • Backpack or book bag
    • Plastic pencil box (No bigger than 5”x7”x2”)
    • One paper portfolio folder with pockets at the bottom (no prongs) • Large glue stick (1.4 oz - “UHU” stick/yellow tube is the best)
    • A 1 inch binder (Clear View type with pockets on the inside)
    • 1 pack of 3 X 5 index cards (lined or unlined)
    • 2 ink pens (blue or black, no clickers)
    • 3 spiral notebooks at least 70 pages (wide ruled)
    • 1 yellow highlighter
    • 1 pair of ear buds (not the over the head kind)
    • 2 packs of Crayola crayons (16 count – classic colors)
    • 1 box of Crayola colored pencils (16 count – classic colors)

    It is important that your child knows what to do after school on the first day of school. Will your child go to Discovery Club? Who will pick up your child from school and in what location? Is he/she supposed to meet someone for carpool? It might be helpful to practice this routine before the first day to ease the anxieties.

    Kindergarten Parents,

     

    We are so excited for the beginning of the 2019 - 2020 School Year. So many wonderful things await us in the months ahead! 

     

    Below you will find our Kindergarten Supply List. We respectfully ask that you purchase supplies that match the descriptions as close as possible. This will help us ensure that everyone has the appropriate supplies for their work.

     

    Each student will need to bring:

    • Standard Size Backpack (approx. 17” – 18” H)
    • Lunch Box
    • 1 - Ream of standard 8 ½” x 11” WHITE copy paper
    • 1 box (10-12) #2 Ticonderoga Pencils (no mechanical pencils)
    • 10 Crayola Regular Markers - Standard Bold Colors
    • 1 box Crayola Colored Pencils – Standard Bold Colors
    • 3 boxes of 24 Regular Crayola Crayons – Standard Colors
    • 3 - 1.27 oz Avery or Elmer’s Permanent Glue Stick
    • 1 – set of Earbuds for personal use only (please get child sized earbuds so that they will fit in their ears.) Over the head earphones will work too.
    • 2 packs of pencil top erasers.
    • 4 Large Expo pens either black or blue.
    • 1 Desk top pencil box. 5 inch by 8 inch works best for their belongings.
