Math Team
-
If you like crunching numbers... if you like competition... if you want to have some fun... be sure to try out for this year's team!
Description: Math Contest Club started out as just a "Math Counts Team" and the Math Counts competition remains the primary focus of the season. But in recent years Coach Soesbe has added several other contests to the schedule. His team is always doing "mail in" style contests here at Churchill or traveling for other competitions.Head Coach: Mr. Soesbe
Teacher Coach: Mrs. LockeBio: Jeff Soesbe is a software engineer for a robotics company. He is a Stanford alum and the parent of a former Churchill IB student. He has a love for math and puzzles that rivals even the "nerdiest" middle schooler. He grew up competing in math competitions and his personal best for the rubix cube is around 25 seconds. In addition to coaching our team, Mr. Soesbe runs an organization called "Sac Math" which serves to offer local math contests to all grade levels. Many of his competitions are hosted at Churchill and Casa Roble High School. Our Math club has flourished under Mr. Soesbe's 10 years of guidance, it is a great time to be on the Math team!
