Science at Sylvan Middle School is based on the new Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).  The goal for developing the NGSS was to create a set of research-based, up-to-date K–12 science standards. These standards give local educators the flexibility to design classroom learning experiences that stimulate students’ interests in science and prepares them for college, careers, and citizenship.  Science also fits perfectly into our school's STEAM focus. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.  In the Fall of 2016 Sylvan embarked on a new focus or theme that incorporates on the elements of STEAM.  Science is at the core of this model.  Students will have access to classroom sets of computers (Chrome Books) on a daily basis.  Our Science classes are housed in our state of the art Science wing and they will do various hands on/ problem solving style lab excerises and projects throughout the year.  We hope you enjoy Science at Sylvan MS.  If you have any questions email one of our staff members.
