Mr. Travis Miller
This is my first year teaching at my alma mater, Mesa Verde (class of 2003), and I am excited to take on the role of teaching Economics, Government, AP Government, and World History. My first five years of education were spent teaching at El Camino Fundamental High School where, besides teaching resource Economics, Government, and Psychology, I also enjoyed several leadership positions including department chair and leadership team member. Along with teaching I have coached baseball at the high school level for the past four years and look forward to being involved in the baseball program at Mesa Verde where I played my high school ball.
This summer, along with other teachers in the San Juan Unified, I had the pleasure of attending the Social Justice Institute in partnership with CSUS. In the 2016-2017 school year I look forward to implementing many of the strategies and practices focused on ensuring human and civil rights for all students.
When I am not teaching I love watching the Giants, reading a book (on just about anything), and spending time with my family. Born and Raised in Citrus Heights I attended Citrus Heights Elementary, Barrett Middle School, and Mesa Verde High School. After High School I attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Opiso (Cal Poly) where I earned my degree in Political Science with a minor in Sociology. Prior to teaching I worked on a few political campaigns in the central coast as well as ran a successful re-election campaign for my father, Councilman Steve Miller.
